Default "Sold out" won't replace "Buy Now"

I'm working on getting a new site going. I'm very new to Zen Cart. I had a test cart on my domain and the buy now image would get replaced with sold out when someone put a hat in their cart (hats are one of a kind, so stock is set to 1, max order set to 1).

On trying to get the real store to work, I can't get the sold out image to show up. I've searched and search the forums and FAQ's and can't find what I am looking for.

    Demo store is: www.donnetta.com/cart

new store (sold out not working) is: www.mybabyhats.com/catalog

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cannot test as only PayPal is working on your site ... if you could flip on Check/Money Order this can be tested ...

But if when you complete the checkout on a Product and products_quantity drops to <= 0 and you have Stock set to keep the products_status set to 1 for ON and the Show Sold Out set to display ...

    This should work ...

OK I turned on check/money order.
I also tested my donnetta.com/cart site and it does mark as sold when someone puts it in the cart.

Yes - maybe I am missing something, but here's what I've got.

    Title Value Action
    Check stock level true
    Subtract stock true
    Allow Checkout true
Mark product out of stock ***
    Stock Re-order level 1
Products status in Catalog when out of stock should be set to 0
Show Sold Out Image in place of Add to Cart 1
    Product Quantity Decimals 0
Show Shopping Cart - Delete Checkboxes or Delete Button 3
Show Shopping Cart - Update Cart Button Location 3

This should be set to 1
Products status in Catalog when out of stock should be set to 0
Otherwise stock will vanish from Catalog when <= 0

Also, if that does not resolve this ...

Switch to Classic ... does that fix it?

What version Zen Cart are you running?

Is this a clean install or upgrade?

If an upgrade, from what version?

I have a question...If the hats are one of kinds, once you sell it why wouldn't you want the cart to automatically no longer show it at all? Except maybe you like to leave them up for a while after they are sold as examples.... could be that....but if I saw a sold out on a product I thought was cool, I would come back looking for that particular item....but maybe thats the point...hmmm maybe I answered my own question.

I think that's it, pretty much. They want to show the sold ones for people to see. I've never met directlyl with the client, I'm a programmer working for a designer. It's the designers client.

You are just seeing the error on lowstock message ...

I can open multiple sessions and add 1 to cart in both shops ...

The winner on the checkout gets it ...
