Default Expected Sort order does not work

    Hi,,

I can't get my product listings sort by other then product name. i would like to sort by incoming date.. it doesn't matter if choose Expected Sort Field = date_expected or products_namein admin/my shop/

    Any suggestions?

Can it be a "Column Layout Grid for Product Listing" issue??? But it does not matter if i choose column or rows, it still sorts by products_name..

    Peter..

in the admin > configuration > product listing > Display Product Listing Default Sort Order > try setting to a number 1 or 2 or 3 and 'a' for assending. I don't recall what # is associated with date

Re: Expected Sort order does not work

Were you able to solve this? I am currently having the same issue. I want to sort the products by Model and have set it that way in the admin in product listing sort order, and based on the admin/categories.php the sort order number for models is 2. I'm assuming that is the number the config is looking for. I changed the sort order to that and it is still sorting products by name only ascending. Can someone enlighten me here what I need to do get the sort order to default to be the model? I have the latest release 1.35 installed.

    Thanks

Idea or Suggestion Re: Expected Sort order does not work

Do you possiblly have you site setup with column/grids? If so... I found the solution digging around the forums. Go in your admin... turn it back to rows... set your sort order make sure it's working in rows and then go back and change it back to columns in the admin and voilla Your sort order works...

If that doesn't work.. PM me and I'll try to help.

I gave it up as it seems that nothing works. The list simply sorts by what you choose to display in the listing. In my case, only product name and a picture. If i choose to show the stock quantity, the listing sorts by that AND product name. Row or column doesn't matter.

I can live by sorting by name but i also want to show stock quantity in the listing but not sort by that.

Idea or Suggestion Re: Expected Sort order does not work

My customer really wanted this and after trying this method I in fact got the sort order to work. The trick for me was to actually go to the front end and after changing to rows, I clicked the row header that I wanted the list to sort by, as customer might do, in my instance it was models. The list resorted to models as it would normally. Then I went back into the admin, changed back to columns and it held the sort. Odd way of doing it, but it worked!

Not definitely sure, but when merging files from 1.3.6, I think I remember seeing some sort order changes... perhaps this is addressed in 1.3.6? There's also an updated column mod in the downloads section.

I was messing with this for a long time and decided to just add a negative sign to the front of my sort orders. My products go from 01,02...etc. So as the numbers get higher they are newer products that I want customers to see at the top of the list. So I figured negative numbers work in reverse, so now I have -1, -2, ... etc. and the most recent (e.g., -9) is displayed at the top.

    Give it a try.
