Adding Categories / product Questions

Hi All

I'm just about getting to the stage were I'm going to enter my categories and products. I have set up a test to see how this will work you can see each product has many different options before they can get to the check out.

I'll guide you through it click the chair image.
Then click the same image (there's only two to choose from)
Click the option starting static seat priced from £234
Then the seat slide priced from £264.
Finally The black base.
You will see my first problem. how do i get rid of the thumb nail image below the fabric swatch?

I'm using images for the text as well until i get to the check out (to keep it all uniform) but when i add a new jpg wit a similar name to one i have entered before it shows a broken image why is this?

I will be entering about 700 products all with various options so if there is a easy way i would love to know about it before i start this long and arduous task.

Am i going about this in the right way or making a lot of work for my self.

This is my first attempt at creating any thing like this so your time knowledge would be very appreciated.

I have looked at your site and am missing what you are describing. I saw no broken images.

I am not sure how you have the attributes set for this but the thumbnail is appearing from a setting and not from naming automatically from what I can determine remotely.

The swatch image name is BM036_CHERRY.jpg and the thumbnail image is rendered as Top1%20red%20seat%20slide%20black%20base.jpg.

There is a additional image function that is invoked automatically with images that have same base name with numeic suffix i.e. cherry.jpg and cherry_1.jpg but this does not appear to be the case.

Sorry that was about a problem i removed as it was not working. I should have left it in so you could see.you still told me what i wanted to know.

Is a solution to this to set the path to a image in a different location eg in a different folder


As for the thumb nail, I'm looking to do is remove it from below the colour swatch as they both lead you to the same place(the check out), as there are 20 or so colour options i thought it would make the page look messy with both the swatch's and the options chosen description.

Is there a limit to the amount of categories you can use? as if so I'll have to work out a way of chopping them down a bit.

Am i right setting the categories up in this way. do you see any problems that might arise?
