Question about category setup

Is it possible to set up a category section so that you can set it up as a link instead of it showing up in the category sidebox?

Category Hidden
Category SubCat

Hide Top Level by setting to status off ... Products go in Sub Cat ...

Set products_date_added to OLD so not to show in New Products sidebox or New Products Listing ...

Filter All Products to exclude SubCat in Hidden Cat ...

Now make link to SubCat that is in Hidden Cat ...
