Hi does anyone have a working copy of the Ask A Product Question that works on zencart v1.3.0.1?

    Hi Marg-

Been running your Ask A Question contribution for a month or so just fine (actually it is on a shop that has been in development and to go live soon). The readme for the mod version I installed says version 1.0 and is dated 04-06-06.

Another Zenner just communicated to me that your mod readme instructs to edit html_output.php. But strangely I did not see such info in my version of the readme.

I did not see any announcement of an updated version anywhere. (This is only thread I could find on the new forum regarding your contribution)

So I just re-downloaded ask_a_question_v1.3.0.zip from your site (exact same name of the archive I previously downloaded) and curiously I found the readme in the current distribution still shows version 1.0.

However I discovered the template file and the readme in the latest package are indeed diff from my version and I see the current readme indeed suggests editing html_output. But no new features are indicated in the new readme. And the new readme still shows the following History:

    History:
    04/2/2006 - Initial Release
The previous version I downloaded works fine for me. So wondering what is different in the current version, (if any new features or if update is for compatibility support only), why the same version number, and if you have any ideas why I could not locate announcement of the revision anywhere?

Thanks for any clarifications you can provide.

    Woody

I didn't change the version number, which I probably should have. I added your suggestion, woody, into the contrib and rezipped it. It doesn't really change enough to re-version it.

Yeah...I was having problem with the mod and once I saw the extra instructions of what to add to html_output.php all my problem was gone and it works great on the site now. Thanks for the mod.

Egads. I'm so embarrassed. After reviewing the archived thread I now see it was yours truly whom recommended in April the html_output.php hack and other mods. Been immersed in so many various projects since that time I completely forgot about those mods and I broke my own rule of not documenting my own mods. LOL.. Thanks for the reminder Marg...

BTW I've discovered it possible to avoid modifying html_output.php, e.g. by dropping the modded function in /includes/functions/extra_functions/. Will test out and report back.

That's good to know - I remember trying to over-ride functions about a year ago, and it failing, and then reading that where there isn't the classic folder, there isn't an over-ride possible. But this sounds positive.
I wonder if it's possible to "hack" full over-rides into the current version?

    Re: Ask A Product Question

    Hey,

I have installed and setup the "Ask a Question"Contribution, which works great (thx for the contributors ;) ).

Although I am having a bit of trouble trying to drop the "Ask a Question" button in the Product Listing (Index) along with the Buy Now Button.

Can anyone point me in the right direction or better let me know where and which file to modify to add that button.

I have looked at the file:
    includes\modules\pages\index\main_template_vars.php

...but I think my php coding skills aren't ready for this...

    Thanks for your help
