    Default Empty Cart - No Cart

    First, thank you to all of the kind people that help out us less fortunate ones!

    I have successfully set up Zen Cart for virtual downloads after reading several threads. I am using PayPal as the payment type and have configured that ok. After making a test purchase, and paying for it on PayPal, I’m returned to the success page. So far so good!

    That’s where it ends. Nothing is put into the shopping cart. The cart is empty. So I guess that the PayPal IPN is not getting through to Zen Cart to tell it to put the product in the cart. There is nothing in My Account to view a cart even if there was something in it.

    Any idea what I’m doing wrong?? Could it be a permissions problem? When I look at customers/orders there is nothing there except a line that says “Billing and Shipping does not match”. Under reports/Products Purchased there is nothing.

    I am using Zen Cart version 1.3.0.1
    I’m using the PayPal sandbox for testing.
    I’m on a Linux server running PHP Version 4.4.3-dev

    Any help is appreciated.

    I would upgrade to v1.3.0.2 ...

    When you say the PayPal is successful but nothing in the cart ... that is not making sense ...

    You have to add products to the cart to checkout ...

    Do you mean the downloads are not part of the final order?

    If so, check to see that you have added the Option Name as either a dropdown or radiobutton and not as READONLY ...

    Do you have an URL to one of your download products that we can peek at?

    Linda, Thank you for the quick reply.

    Here is what is happing. I click on the item to purchase it. Go through the different screens to get to the PayPal site. I pay for the item and after paying, I click on the button to return to the store. When I get there, I'm on a page that says thanks for purchasing, and to click on My Account or my Shopping Cart to view my purchase.

    When I click on My account, there is nothing there, even though PayPal has returned me to the Success page. I guess I meant that the downloads are not showing up.

    I have added the option name as a radio button, but cannot see where it says read only or not.

    The download file is in the downloads folder, not sure if this is the url that you want or not. It is a PDF that is in a zip file named CSR4100.zip

    1 there is a bug in either v1.3 or v1.3.0.1 that is fixed in v1.3.0.2 where the download does not show the message that the Orders Status for the download has not been updated yet ...

    Note: Once the Orders Status is set to >=2 or <=4 the Download will become available and work fine ...

    I really wanted to see if when you add the Product to the Shopping Cart ... do you see the "attribute" for the download in the Shopping Cart?

    If not, you either have your Option Name Option Type setup wrong ... or you do not have a Default set the Attribute for the Download and as most do not think to click the Radio button when empty, it never adds the Attribute to the Order ... and if no Attribute is added to the Order ... then no Download is added to the Order as the Download is on the Attribute ... got all that?!

    I do have the radio button enabled, and it does show up. I set the button to always be checked so that a customer would not make that mistake.

    If you want, the only product that is set up for download is under Fantasy, then click on MagicQyest for the order and see what it looks like for you.

    I will download the upgrade and see if it helps.

    If you can make the order I just did as Orders Status Processing or Delivered I can see more ...

    More than likely the info on the download is not showing because of the Orders Status settings ...

    I used the CC checkout ... and that is probably set to Pending ...

    The current bug in v1.3 that is fixed in v1.3.0.2 would be showing right now that the Download is pending until you update the order ...

    Have you left the default settings for the orders status on PayPal?

    Note: if this was an upgrade, uninstall and reinstall PayPal and reconfigure it ...

    I have gone in and under pending orders and set yours to delivered, Is that correct?

    Your order shows up just fine, so I guess it is a PayPal IPN problem. I set this cart up as a fresh install, and configured PayPal from the instruction in the PayPal payment module. I went to PayPal and made the changes there as it stated to do.

    If you are able to download the product please do. If you are into roleplaing games, you might like it.

    Thanks so much for the help. After reading the upgrade instructions, I think I will just make a clean install of the newer version. It looks easier than the upgrade.

    Once you changed the status I could easily download from My Account ...

    Get the upgrade to v1.3.0.2 installed ... don't forget to back up both your database and website before upgrading ...

    Then uninstall and reinstall PayPal and reconfigure ...

    When you do a PayPal payment, do you see the order in the Zen Cart Orders in the Admin?

    I will do the upgrade.

    No, when I do the PayPal order, I see nothing in the admin that an order was ever placed. Nothing in the order history and nothing pending.

    Since the bulk of our buisiness is in Virtual downloads, this is a must to get working right. We currently use a PHP script that delivers the download to via email and a download page. However, it is having problems of late getting caught by spam filters. So moving to a full store is very Important. I have heard good things about Zen Cart, and do want to make it work. I just lack the knowledge to do it on my own. I used to think I was half smart, till now!!!

    Thanks again for your help, and do download your free book while it is still there.

    Take a slow read through the /docs for PayPal ...

    The wiki also has quite a bit on PayPal that should help ...

    Could be something simple like your email address is not entered correctly, this is case sensative and must match the primary account ... and you do need to be using a Business not a Personal account ...

    See if that doesn't get you back on track for your PayPal Payments ...
