First item price, with additional items

I am creating a reprints store for a publishing company. They provide reprints as a service to their advertisers and subscribers. I am posting their content online to streamline the process.

I am creating one article as the product. I am looking to create a dropdown box with all the different media types to choose from:
    • Laser Reprints [8-1/2" x 11"]
    • Laser Reprints [11" x 17"]
    • Posters - Double Weight Matte [24" x 30"]
    • Posters - Photo Glossy Paper [24" x 30"]
    • Download
    • Et cetera...

I need to have the first print for Laser Reprints [8-1/2" x 11"] to be $10 and each additional print to be $3. That is, 1 is always $10 and each after is $3.

I have been using price by attributes with no base price and quantity discounts with no luck (the first always needs to be $10 and each after always $3). I then thought I had it wth Onetime pricing and quantity, but I see that the first one counts for the $3 with the rest of them (making the total $3 higher than it should be).

How can I get this to work? (Now that I think, should I use a discount to eliminate the first $3?) Furthermore, I will need to get this to work for different prices on each Print Type.

Idea or Suggestion Re: First item price, with additional items

Well, I found a solution that prices correctly, but I do not like how all the prices and attributes display.
Concerning Laser Reprints [8-1/2" x 11"], everything is still priced by attributes but I have added $3 as the base attribute price and added a onetime price of $7 (which makes $10 for my first item and $3 for each additional). That is just what I need, but the price shows up as Starting at: $3 (which is not really true, but that will be the lowest attribute price I have); additionally, the attribute options look cluttered with ($3.00) *$7.00 suffixed to the option.

Product (may change as I try to fix it)

I am a programmer, so hacking it would be no problem, but is there another solution (through the interface) to this quandry?
