Creating a shop for photographs

I am working on integrating a photographer's gallery to being controlled by ZC. I would like to have categories displayed like the Featured, new, special or upcoming products.

This would be 5 rows with 3 columns with n # of pages, for each catigory and their subs.

I need the listing page above to display only the photo and Product name and continue to the product display page for details and add to cart.

Seems there may be a way to leverage the way Featured products works (like using sub categories within Featured)??

I have been using 2.6 and thought it may be a good time to upgrade but find it somewhat less flexible. Help would be much appreciated.

In the downloads section is a contrib called the Columnar Display. That should help you achieve the look you want.
