    Default Slow Site

I'm having problems with my site loading, ie: it's slow. Maybe it's just me, but I've tried to access it from work (which is on a T-something-big) and at home (which is 768 DSL) and both times it takes about twenty seconds to load.

I've already enabled GZip, and turned off category counts for admin and catalog.

Is there anything else I can do to speed up my site? I don't have any items or images yet (else I would be using Image Handler2), save for the one large logo and several small credit card logos.

I also use one image for the background (that wood pattern) and it's only one file referenced a bunch of times.

See if it loads slow for you: Click Here

If it doesn't look like there's anything wrong, I might go and talk to my hosting company. Given, the other website I run through them doesn't lag, but it also is almost straight HTML with little or no interesting PHP bits on it.

    Much thanks in advance!

It takes, for me, about 2.5 secs to load each pages (humanly counted of course). If you need more detailed statistics, you can always try to test your web site's speed from: http://www.websiteoptimization.com .

This will show all the results you need regarding the loading speed and even some recommendations in order to speed up your site (down below - that site).

I was looking through other threads and noticed that website a few other times.

    Maybe it's my connection.

Either way, I'm in the red when it comes to CSS. I'm using the two-template version of the 1.3 classic program. If I were to use the winmerge program, would that take out the duplicate stuff and condense the file?

Thank you again for your input!

If this is about duplication, then Winmerge or Beyond Compare 2 are the best tools to compare your readings from two same file with different codings.

    Hm... it's still loading slow.

I guess it must be me.

Is there another template that looks similar to Classic? The more basic the better...

I think I've found one of the problems: I need to optimize my logo, which is one big-arse file. Also, the "wood" file I'm using for a background might be a bit tight. If I were to shorten that (it's only about 100 px to a side and I chose it because it's a seamless tile) do you think that would speed up the site?

Also, there is a verson of Classic that includes only one style sheet. Would that help?

Always try to keep the smallest kb size of your products (as well as your header logo). This will definitely speed up the load-time of your site. The more it weights, the longer it will take to load as you'd only require more server ressources.

The screwballish part is: Even with the default template (literally template_default) it still took a good thirty seconds to load.

Please post your URL pointing to your techsupp.php file (you will find this file from your zc_install folder under the latest Zen-Cart package you have downloaded from sourceforge.net). I will take a look at it.

I actually used what's called a "One-Click Install" from my host (dreamhost.com) and it turns out they have 1.3.1... while sourceforge says 1.3.2

Lemmie install 1.3.2 and see if it solves the problem.
