I figured out how to send out gift certificates, but when they use it to get a downloadable product, it won't let them do it until I go into the order and change the status. Any ideas?

The is a bug at the moment in the GV setting for a 0 balance that it is not listening to the override setting in the Configuration ... GV Coupons ...
This has been updated for the next release ...
