Default Category "All Product Listing" on main index page

    Hey, folks.

So after much perseverance, the header is finally done...and it looks pretty good (if I do say so myself...though there is some necessary tweaking to be done to make it cross-browser compliant).

    On to the next question:

On the main index page of my site, I want to display an all-product listing for one particular category (men's). Up at the top R of my navigation, there are links to where you can go to the all-product listing for men's OR women's (which are my two categories of items, incidentally).

SO. What I can't figure out is, how do I get it to do an all-product listing for a single category on the main index page? (I'm guessing it's a PHP function/mySQL query that I'll need to plug into the tpl_main_page.php...I just don't know enough about PHP to know exactly which code to add to my template. I've tried to go through the template_default code to track down how Zen Cart displays the All Products listing when you click the 'all products' link in the sidebar...but just can't seem to figure it out.)

I've downloaded the Column Layout Grid for Product Listing" module, which will obviously help...as I said, I just can't seem to track down the module that fits into the template to get the items to display. (And preferably, the module that I can insert into the tpl_main_page so that I can still control the column layout module in the Admin to control their layout).

Can anyone give me a hand?

    Thanks!

    LD

PS - You can check out my site at http://www.upscalehomeless.com/zentest - that'll at least give you a feel for the header. (The rest of the content will be wiped off the map, pretty much, as soon as I can figure out how to insert the product listing grid. So please, 'pardon our mess' - it's a construction site, at the moment.)

(Oh, yeah - I'm using Safari to view it...and I know that Firefox is putting some funky borders around some images right now, so be warned).

All Products Listing and Products Listing are 2 totally different layouts and builds ...

The Search also uses the Product Listing ...

The New Listing, Featured Listing and All Listing are more or less clones of one another ...

Thanks, Linda - I guess it's pretty obvious that I'm totally lost here, as I'm not exactly sure of the distinction between the different listing layouts/builds (All Products Listing versus Products Listing & whathaveyou)...

Basically, if you look at my site-in-progress http://www.upscalehomeless.com/zentest), you can see the navigation up at the top. I'm trying to get the main index page to look something like this (and also the men's and women's category pages):

I'm using Zen Cart 1.3.0.2, latest build. I've got the "Column Layout Grid for Product Listing" module installed - though from your response, maybe that won't be something that will help me. (?)

Can you (or anyone?) point me in the right direction of what code I'd need to insert into the tpl_main_page.php to get the men's category of shirts to display like the above?

(The Men's shirts being "cPath=1" in the URL for their product listing, which I assume means they're Category #1).

(One more thing - I can use the stylesheet to put the pics in the right place & add the containers once they're on the page...I'm decent with HTML & CSS...it's just dealing with the PHP to get the dynamic data there that has me completely lost).

    Thanks, as always,

    LD

    Okay, an update:

I know I can style the Product Listing pages by modifying the product_listing.php file in includes/modules/MY_TEMPLATE/ . So I figure I can style that the right way, then plug it into my main page (& the product listing page for the women's category).

So that helps. I'm looking at it now to try and figure out what the PHP script contained within is doing (& how to modify it to only show all the images from a particluar category, minus the "Displaying 1 to 10 (of 19 products)"-type text up at the top & throughout the grid.

So what I basically need to figure out is the code that will call the product_listing.php file's contents and put them onto my main page.
