Build Your Own Product

Can anyone point me in the right direction. I need to know how to do the following:

I want customers to be able to BUILD THEIR OWN PC on my site. I.e. They must be able to pick certain parts like the motherboard, processor, case etc. Then they must construct their own pc and and submit that as their final product.

Is there any way to do this?!

You can do that using attributes.

If a group or series of choices to be made all on one page works for you, standard attributes will be easy to set up.

If you want a step-by-step process like Dell has, that will require a bunch of custom coding. Likewise if you want to limit the choices for option B depending on the choice for option A.

Hi,
I have used zencart several times but never for a build to order site. I explained to a possible client that they could use attributes, but he wants a few things that I do not know if Zen Cart can handle. If anyone could let me know if zen cart could do the following, please let me know :)

This is for a custom PC site.
1. When a person selects the PC Case, the product image changes to that case.
2. He wants the attributes spread over a couple of pages, since there will be so many.
3. He wants the price to update automatically with each selection.

Thanks. After my post, I found that thread, but it looks like it never really got off of the ground. Does anyone know of any working examples of it?

If you find one, let me know!!! I have been trying for almost it seems ages without a reply or fix. It seems as if no one replies to any thing lately. I am desperately looking for something like this, and more importantly, I am looking for something that will take the customer's information that is entered from the Zen Cart shopping cart over to Paypal so that the customer doesn't have to enter the same information twice when checking out. Anyone heard of this?? If so, please cue me in to the contribution. Other wise, I will try to keep anyone else who is looking for a PC Configurator / Build your own product posted. It really helps when you have people that really care integrated on this forum, but they are really rare!! It seems that some people that have everything working won't release all of their information. Keep in touch!!!
