644 or 444 - the 7 is telling it to open up the write ;)
Hope that helps.

Please take note that these types of permissions are recommended to be changed over cPanel - file manager rather from FTP. Otherwise, you could (not necessarely will) encounter problems from FTP for an unknown reason.![]()
For convenience ... try making the changes via your FTP program first ...
It is only necessary to use your Control Panel WHEN and IF your hosting site does not give you rights to make these changes via FTP ...
Save yourself having to do things the long way by first trying 644 then 444 via FTP ...
If you find you do not have rights to these settings via FTP ... try via your Control Panel ...
And, don't be afraid to contact your host to find out why you do not have rights to access these permissions via FTP in case there are other reasons such as a misconfigured site, misconfigured FTP program etc.

The reason why you can, no longer, see your admin page is because you have set your CHMOD settings to 444 from your entire admin folder.
If you need to gain some information, regarding the way to properly set your CHMOD permissions over the right folders and files, simply go to your DOCS folder, from the downloaded package, and follow up the installation's instructions.
This will tell you, technicly, how to proceed accordingly.
