Product Listing customization

I have read all I can find about how to refine the product listing, but I am still unsuccessful in actually fixing my layout the way I want it. It looks like this:

and I want it to look more or less like this:

For one thing, I have tried everything to get the cartbox in this listing and couldn't do it. I just got that the "...more info" link to the product info page which I was able to customize pretty much the way I wanted it. Please help. Thank you.

The cart box and attributes are not part of the programming of that page. You get the ...more info to send the customer to the details page to make the choices.

Right, but I want the cartbox on both pages. I don't want the customer to miss out on an opportunity to purchase my products. There must be some way to have it appear on that page. Does anyone have that information to share?

Admin > Configuration > Product Listing > Display Product Add to Cart Button (0=off; 1=on) and set to '1'

and the next item on this setting page also assists in controlling this display.

This will place an 'add to cart' selector at the top of the product listing page.

Yes, of course, but I already tried that and all it does is give me the "...more info" link. That is why I am starting to loose my mind.

When you have attributes (like Size) you cannot have an add to cart button on the product listing page because choices need to be made before adding.

To have the choices show on the product listing page requires some custom coding, as the system is not set up to do this. It is set up to process choices on the product info page.

So what you want is *possible* but will require complex professional-grade help.

I originally wanted the same kind of capacity. One thing that helped me reconcile to the default system (besides flexibility improvements when v1.3.0 came out) was the fact that using the product info pages allows tracking and reports of what items are getting the most views and interest.

Good to see I'm not the only one who wants this. I'm trying to make it look like the example in the attached image. I know which files to edit and so far I do have the attributes showing up on the page, and I bypass the more info to show the Add button when options are enabled for this page.

Currently It is working too good its replicating the last option_name, option_menu for items that follow that don't actually have options. So I'm struggling through that for the moment because the attribs are really spread across the map with when and how they load so there is much to follow through. But I'm confident I can get it working (with hope).

Unfortunately its not that simple. I am still currently working on it but having some global problems and brainstorming on the best way to do it. I have the attribute options showing up now and I bypassed the 'more info' text but still need to incorporate the attribs into the form validation so that the add to cart button includes the attribs. I have to hunt down how the zen function works for that still so it may take some time.

How did you get the attributes to show up on the listing? I've been trying to figure that out too. Fortunately I only have read-only attributes (work around to avoid adding new field to products).

Hope you can share with me the secret of your success ;)
