Hiding left column altogether?

Hello,
I'm customizing ZC to match the look of my site, after a whole night of try-outs I finally managed to match the css and header and footer.

I have disabled all the boxes that appears in the left coulmn (where by default you have the Information/Catagories etc. ) but now I still have that blank coulmn that I need to get rid of.

I tried editing column_left.php but being a n00b I messed the whole thing.

anyone knows how can I keep just the center and right column boxes?

To turn off the Left or Right Column ... peek in the Layout Settings and change the setting there ...

in admin -> configuration-> layout settings
turn left column OFF globally
