Two different pages or views for the same product

For a certain custom product type, I would like to have two different pages for each product. To be more specific, I would like to have a product overview page which displays just the basic information and then have a separate page which displays the details of the product.

I'm new to zencart (but not to php/css/html) and would like to know a graceful and stable way to do this. Any ideas.

I ended up adding a parameter to the search string to select the page to view, i.e., "&pview=1". If the search string was not present, the default view was presented to the user. Else the view that coincided with the pview index was loaded.

There is nothing wrong with adding parameters to the search string is there?
