text box attribute

I feel so stupid, but I added a text attribute, but when I go to assign it to a product, it's not in the drop down menu to choose from?

I added an option called "Customized Text" of type TEXT.

When I go to the product, Customized Text is not in the dropdown menu to add as an option to the product.

Did I mess something up?

In the attributes controller, select your product, select your option ("Customized Text")
in the Option name window, then to the right in the Option Value window, select
TEXT [RESERVED FOR TEXT...].

Well, I didn't have that option, but I messed a bit with the table in mySQL and added a new TEXT record, and then somehow got it all to work! Yeah!
