Discounts without using discount coupons

I was wondering if anyone knew if it is possible to apply a discount to the shopping cart without using a coupon code?

My client would like to offer £10 off the shopping basket total as a launch offer but has alredy issued coupon codes. Is there anything in the admin that could handle this global discount or would something need to be coded.

Are there any restrictions to the discount? What if they were to only buy 1 item?

No restrictions, the site is hacked to only allow 12 items to be ordered so we are talking average order value of £100 (a mixed case of wine). Only require £10 discounted from total order value.

You can have more than one coupon, though you can only use one at a time. You could issue the 10pound coupon and post the code on the site for the users to enter. Restrict it to one use per customer, unlimited overall uses.

There is a Global Discount that dreamscape made some time ago ...

I do not know if this is working with v1.3.x ... but you might see if you can search for it ...

Thanks for your help guys, I got around my problem by using the Global QTY discount module as the system is set up to only allow qty in multiple of 12, I just applied my discount top 12, 24, 36 etc and everything is cool.

Probably a unique issue but someone may find this helpful
