Default Question on selling sample Products

If you were to sell customa prints and you want to post just some samples
and a the instructions how to order the items.

what will be the best way to do this?

Call for price could confuse the buyer thinking they are bying that particular

Watermark all of the images that you display as samples only and then put your cart into showcase only mode. Then they could use the contact us form (which you customize yo display your ordering info) to send you a message ? Would this not work?

I just put half my site into showcase mode and half into store mode. My invitation designs are not able to be purchased online, but I have other stationery products that can.

Creating products using the "Document-General" product type enables you to trigger a new sidebox and create categories that you can designate to not be cart enabled.

Check my site: Invitation Studio is showcase, stationery store is traditional 'store.'

Long story short - make your samples a "Document-General" product type and go from there.

    Okay -

    1) Finding the file to modify:

Use "Tools/Developer Toolkit", I searched on the word "DDOCUMENT.

    /home/handmad/public_html/includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/Series_12_Paper/document_general.php
    Line #22 : DEFINE('BOX_HEADING_DOCUMENT_CATEGORIES', 'Invitation Showcase');

    2) Using overrides:

Series_12_Paper is my custom template folder, so I copied the file from template_default and made the Series_12 (you canname it anything) folder, copied it there and made my modifications. By using this logic throughout your system, you will preserve your changes throughout upgrades and patches.

    3) Product Types:

    * Create your new top category
*Create your first product: Click on your new category, where it displays Proudct Type - select Document General and proceed.
*Then edit your new category and select Product General - do not allow to add to cart, and click on "add to include sub categories".

Your "Document" products will trigger the new sidebox, which you have renamed the header in (1).

Kinda sketchy, but I had help from lots of folks on the board, didn't ever collect the info in one place.

    Best,
    Laura
