How to center featured products on main page

The website is www.populuxebooks.com

I wish to center the featured products box in the white area

I also want to center the text "Welcome to Populuxe Books, the home for vintage decor and design." This text is in the includes/languages/english/index.php file.

Is it possible to do this? Thanks in advance.

If you don't want to use any sideboxes on the left,

HTML way, find the table
on includes, 'your template', common, tpl_main_page.php. Around line
72 <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" id="contentMainWrapper">,
remove the contents of the left column, then merge the centre and left columns.

Zen way in your admin site
Cofiguration>Layout settings> Column Width - Left boxes. set to 0px.
Column Width - Left. Set to 0px.

Tried both ways so I know they work, but with both of these way you will not be able to use your left sideboxes.

Not sure what to do if you need the sideboxes on your other pages, but I'm sure someone here will

Why would you do this when you can simply turn global columns off using your admin area?

Tools / Configuration / Layout Settings.

Not good to edit core code when you are looking to edit out things which are controlled via admin.

Angel, the information portion of the web developer's toolbar will let you see exactly what to change in the css to center the items. Click Ctrl-Shift-F to see the items revealed.
