Am I mistaken or can this verification method be defeated by simply entering the correct number of characters?
On my current install, any characters can be used - so long as the end result matches the Admin setting for "Length of Validation Code". You could even enter 111111 and the Captcha Validates. Left blank, the Captcha correctly returns an error however.
Is this the correct functionality or is my install messed up?
[FONT=Arial][FONT=Times New Roman]Hello,
I have a strange problem with the user registration. New customers can't register. I don't know if it's due to the Captcha. Let's give it a try to explain the situation.
First I installed the Captcha under version 1.3.5 after some troubles it worked great. It's really a very valuable and needed contribution.
After upgrading to 1.3.6 I upgraded the Captcha to the new version. Now it's no longer possible for new customers to register. There is no error message. Simply noting happens. In the admin the new registration isn't visible.
If the Captcha is voluntary wrong there is no error message.
Strangely when I look at the admin site under "configuration" there are two links to "Captcha validation". The first is the right one. The second one is empty.
Is this the cause of the problem?
Thank you for helping me solving this problem.
Xavier

Edit:
Have you tried these two posts:

I'm still using this under the newest version of Zen-Cart.![]()
Thank you for your answer. If I understand well first the Captcha module needs to be removed completly before installing the other one?
Xavier
Xavier,
If you are upgrading from one version to another, you do not need to run the install the .SQL file a second time.
I have been meaning to put together an SQL 'uninstall' file that you can use to remove the CAPTCHA modification from your database, so this kind of issue can be avoided in future.
Thanks for reminding me :)
Paul
For those needing to uninstall the CAPTCHA validation SQL from your site (either to upgrade to the latest version, or to try TheOracle's idea) -- you can cut-and-paste the attached .SQL file into the patch query engine.
(this SQL has been tested on a 1.3.0.2 and 1.3.7 install)

Paul,
Thank you for the sql-file. I have uploaded your file using the "SQL Query Executor".
Nothing happens. The captcha is still present. The login still doesn't work.
Is there an other solution?
Thank you very much,
Xavier
Paul,
I disabled the Captcha validation using the admin function.
The Captcha is now disabled, so i works.
Creating a new account on the website isn't possible.
Is it due to the Captcha or could there be an other reason?
