As more and more hosts disable fopen and it's wrappers, do the core devs think an improved way to update the currencies could be developed? I recently gained some insite on the fopen URL file access thing and from what I know now isn't they a way to use cURL for this?
What your thoughts?

In spite of the fact that more and more servers are blocking it by default, you can often alter your own site settings to enable fopen() via php.ini:
Code:allow_url_fopen = On
