How do I remove weight attribute

I sell my products with a s/h fee based on the amount purchased. The weight attribute is active and shows up as an option when someone makes a purchase. I looked at the FAQs and tried to change the + to a - in the product attribute. When I click "insert" it simply changes back to the + in the weight category.

Any ideas?

+ means add the weight in the Attribute setting

blank means add the weight in the Attribute setting

- means subtract the weight in the Attribute setting

To not show the weight of the Attribute in the Attributes but still use them, you need to change the settings in each of the Product Types from the Catalog ... Product Type ... Edit Layout ...

Show Attribute Weight
Display Attribute Weight on Product Info 0= off 1= on
