    Default Header image Scaling issue

    Hello all,

After upgrading to 1.3.0.2 my site broke (I tested the upgrade in a lab enviornment before the actual upgrade and all went well, but not on the live server). The site is sitting on a sub-domain right now, and was supposed to be delivered to the customer on monday......hopefully this can still happen. I have had to rebuild the site from scratch....

I am having trouble getting my header Logo image to scale with the site when the site is minimized. The entire site scales down like it should but the logo stretches off into the body. Is there any way to fix this? It is Driving me crazy!

here is a link to the site that is killing me!

    2 things;

    1. If you still have the test site files or install; post the new site url and the test site config.php files (/admin/includes & /includes) for assistance on how to move the test install.

    2. your header is one static image and can not resize as a result.

    Kobra,

Thanks for the very fast reply!

I will first tell you how dumb I am.....and then I will show/prove (to) you you how dumb I am.

    1. When I tested the site in the lab.......I used a very striped down version of the live site....I was more worried about the database being corupted than anything else....well I have realized the error, but now it is too late....I know.....I have just shown you how dumb I am....

    2. Any suggestion on image size so that it will scale right? I thought that maybe I could shrink the image and use a background-color to give the appearance of scaling....what do you think?

I have been reading your replies in the forums, and I must say that you are not only a talented individual you have the patients of a monk.......BRAVO....BRAVO..

    thanks again!

    Eric

A static image will never scale properly. there are several methods to create a "fluid" header but retaining the exact look as you have now would be difficult.

If you think that the majority of your customers will be at a resoultion of 800 or higher, then your could separate some of the parts of your header. Like take the title out and make it a logo or sales message. make a left image and a right image with the center part just a color and use the css sliding window trick(see the future zen template 2.0 for an example of this). Or you could redesign the head image to allow a trailling repeating image that would fill out another resolution.

Bottomline, create for the lowest res that is prvalent and make fluid for the others.

Thanks Again for the fast reply!

I think that I am going to just use a smaller image and center the image on a background color so that there is an apperance of scaling.

I really like your trailing repeating image idea....might try to work that....

    thanks

    This would also work...

Thanks for all of you help.

I guess in this case the fastest way is the best, but I am gonna try that trailing repeating images idea on my next project......which will be entirely too soon.....man, I am a Cisco guy.......what am I doing here? LOL
