Link from web gallery to order page

Greetings,

I have an online photo portfolio. I do not need the storefront only the shopping cart feature. An example would be where they would click a link under that particular picture and they would be directed to an order page where they could order that print, update the shopping cart, and checkout when they have completed their photo shopping.

Is this a possibility with Zen-Cart?

Zen Cart is a full-fledged eCommerce system. It is not merely a plugin with "buy now" links. It is intended for you to build your site within it, and use it to manage your products, your orders, your customers, etc. It is very powerful and can do lots more than you likely need. Things like allowing customers to select which size of print or frame they would like when they place the order. Offering coupons and gift certificates. Offering numerous images per product in case you wanted to show different angles (okay, prints don't really need this ... but you could show related pictures of framed prints, etc), and lots more.

Although the cart will do exactly as stated above, you can also make it do what you want. You would still have to add each of the items in your portfolio to the cart, then simply create a link to the item from the portfolio page. As an artist myself, I can understand why you'd want to do it this way. The cart is very flexible and it will work in the way you need it to work as well as a stand-alone eCommerce system.
