Well that answered my first question. Going to Install to see how to is no more an option. I would be forever. I just want to know if someone else has his or her Zen running on a vertual network on their own computer. I just downloaded SQL.
I guess I will have to just go ahead and get a host that is setup to do the hosting. I am not spending more time on this, it is not worth the pain.

I can set it up on a server on the web. That's a piece of cake. I am trying to install it (and) get it to run on my computer. I can figure it all out in time but I'd rather not at this point.

I have already looked at this Install instructions. They all apply to on the web server. I want to run local to evaluate first Before deciding to use ZEN.

Thanks for the info though, I was hoping someone could loan me a short cut if they had Already done this.

Yes mate
You can very welll run zen cart on your local machine
To start with, install Apache/PHP/Mysql/phpmyadmin

I am trying to install MySql right now. Should I uninstall MSDE which is a SQL server?
Anyways, when trying to install Mysql I get error message can't find message something another file. Getting tired, I think you have to buy some of those program. BTW by the way the MySQL version is 4.0. I don't even know which versions of the software I need to install. But I am determined. From what I read on the site you sent me to, you need to install all those software programs.

Another thing, I have MSDE server running but I have no idea how to conifg it,
I need a gui to do that. I noticed this Mysql has that it seems. So you can give rights to dirs and add names etc.. At least I think I am on the right track.
And to think, this old man networked Jackson Hewitt when he first started.
That was a wee long time ago and alot has changed. And it was a little peer to peer. I see I need to get a printer connection and print a bunch of docs.
I like hit the exe file and play. Guess I am just getting too old for this.

I will check it all out tomorrow.

MSDE means Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine?
Zen cart doesnt works with SQL server
It is best compatible with Mysql
Mysql 4.0.1 is fine for zen cart

How did the installation go? I am also keen to work with Zen on my computer before installing it on the server.

Anyone else here who can give feedback on running ZenCart with xampp ? I have that on my pc but don't know how to use it........
