Default Primer for shipping and payments

I've read through any documentation I can find on shipping modules and payment gateways. Is there any info out there that better walks a person through the processes of:

    a) implementing the "best" (read easiest, but secure) payment method to be used with a current merchant account? I see there is a module for authorize.net, but when I go to their website there is little to no information -- one has to call, which is odd to me in this internet age. If it is no biggie, does anyone have comments (good, bad, ugly) about implementing authorize.net? On their website, zencart isn't listed as a shopping cart that is compatible with them...I guess it is, but.... comments?

There are other gateways out there, does anyone have a recommendation on those that are easy to implement with zen cart?

    b) my customer wants to use USPS. That module does look fairly straight forward. Any comments about setting this up/ease of use?

These two issues are my flies in the ointment right now.

    Thanks in advance!

Many merchant account banks have initiated gateways(so as not to miss out), one is Wells Fargo...If you have a merchant account check with the issuing bank first.

USPS module...do a search here for this for the many posts as to what it invloves. Basically, do not use their "test server" let them know that you are using ZenCart and that you want to be initialized on their production server.

Thanks. The bank does not have a gateway, so I have to find one.

I'll peruse the USPS module posts. Fun reading, I'm sure.

Any other thoughts on gateways? Much appreciated.
