The last post is what shows up when I try to enter the site www.mysite.com/cart

I get this message when I type www.mysite.com/cart/admin:

    0 DB_ERROR_NOT_CONNECTED
    in:
    [delete from zen_db_cache]

Ok, so I figured out what I did. I deleted the SQL Database on my server. How do I get it back? Any suggestions?

you will have to recreate the DB...You can either create a new one with name and pass and then edit the 2 configure.php files to match or check these files for what it was and use this when you create it.

If you don't have a backup, then you'll have to start from scratch, running zc_install/index.php after re-uploading the zc_install folder to your server

So I emailed my server and they were able to recover the file...

When I type in the address, there is a red strip at the top of the window that says
" Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/mypage/public_html/cart/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file."

When I go to my files, I can't see it under the file that they specify. Where can I find this file?

Eeek - I didn't delete my database (its still there!), but I (and all my customers!) get the same message!

Any suggestions? I've emailed my server to ask them what could have happened.

I haven't touched the database in a few weeks (since last backup).

Thanks for use of others grey cells

Ok, I've had a good look at things.

I can access the database in seemingly every way (through www.mysite.co.uk/admin, mySQL admin and everything looks fine in the shop admin).... why can't the http://www.chaichapel.co.uk connect if the admin can?!

scratch of head.... I'm going to keep looking! Why always on a friday?!

problem solved - it seems the configure.php file in /includes/ somehow corrupted.

strange, but I now know where I'm looking!

Did this solve your problem? (I'm having this too, all of a sudden -- except I can't get to my store OR the Admin.)

When I go to the store it defaults to the "nddbc.html" file. ("Sorry!
There seems to be a problem connecting to our database. .....")

When I try to go to Admin, it says:

    0 DB_ERROR_NOT_CONNECTED
    in:
    [select * from project_version WHERE project_version_key = 'Zen-Cart Database' ]

Tricky, since it just says "in: ", I don't even know where to look for this "project_version_key" business. Can't use the Developer's Toolkit, but I have SpotLight in my OS and those search terms find no results.

    Can someone help?

I'm going to try to create a brand new database, as suggested by "kobra," and modify the "configure.php" files accordingly.

    KOBRA:

you wrote "If you don't have a backup, then you'll have to start from scratch, running zc_install/index.php after re-uploading the zc_install folder to your server".

I'm still confused about under what circumstances one has to run the installer (or "start from scratch"); if something's wrong with the DataBase, can I simply create a new one and tell ZenCart where it is (in the configure.php files)? Or does one have to re-install ZenCart every time there's a new database?

(Presently I'm not concerned about losing my database, since I have not been able to successfully re-import my old one, and am therefore just starting over anyway and doing tests. But I AM concerned about having to re-install ZenCart yet again and re-do all my settings.)

I guess my fundamental question here is: why does one even have to export their old database, then create a new one to import into, before upgrading ZenCart? (I realize one has to do this, I just don't understand why.)

Thank you, and please pardon my ignorance.
