Default Help to protect my site

I have the version V1.3.0.2. Also how do I know if my site has already been hatched into.

I have seen the script you need to put in to protect your site but I did not create my site so I am unsure where I have to go to do it and do I need to back it up before I do this to. Once I put the script in I want to backup to download the patch thing but I am unsure about doing any of that to. I know I have to to the server which I assume is my web host control panel page for my page?

I am very new at all this any help would be great.

I am looking at my log and I have seen some a whole lot of different hosts looking at my site yesterday here is one of the links they looked at

    http://wortschatz.uni-leipzig.de/findlinks/

    Host: 139.18.2.68 /robots.txt
Http Code: 404 Date: Aug 18 00:44:56 Http Version: HTTP/1.1 Size in Bytes: -
    Referer: -
    Agent: findlinks/1.1.3-beta6 (+http://wortschatz.uni-leipzig.de/findlinks/)

and I few strange ones like that. Does this mean I have been hacked. I can still get in using my password but do want to protect my site just not sure how.

I have gone and down the patches but I could not find them all I was unable to locate the one for the following

    includes/applications_top.php
    includes/modules/payment/paypal/paypal_functions.php
includes/functions/whos_online.php (I do have v1.3.0.2 but must not be the full one)

Any help to above questions would be great.

The patches are not yet available in download form. You will need to FTP the files to your computer, change the text, and reload them to your site.

The item you list is a search engine and nothing to worry about.

    Thanks for responding.

With the scripts that I had to cope is it not normal that the top one in particular is missing or is that okay.

    No, it's not okay.

I don't really understand your posts. Are you saying you don't even have the indicated files, or that you couldn't find the proper spot to edit, or that you edited some files but not all, or what?

    Hi Dr,

Sorry it probably doesn't make much sense I know nothing about scripts and all this. I was able to find most by coping the script that needed to be changed with the find button on those scripts but

includes/applications_top.php - was not able to find the script needed to be changed in this one at all.

    includes/modules/payment/paypal/paypal_functions.php - didn't have a paypal_functions.php in my paypal includes file.

includes/functions/whos_online.php (I do have v1.3.0.2 but must not be the full one) - this one I didn't have the script needed to change but maybe I don't have the full one.

Someone else created my site for me so I am trying to learn about all this. For all the other ones I was able to find them and replace them but couldn't find the ones above.

I suppose my main question is how do you know if your site has been hacked. I do want to update my site but want to make sure before I do it that everything is okay?

I hope that makes more sense.

I have downloaded filezilla and have got a connection to my server but what do I do after that to get it to do what ever it has to do maybe that will be able to find it.

I am sorry for the very basic computer language I have decided I need to learn more about this.

That is the information at the top.

    Zen Cart 1.2.5

    Database Patch Level: 1.2.5

So I have nothing to worry about. I have just realised that at the top it says the download version is. I am a bit of a fool. I did make some of those changes that it said to the scripts will that hurt my site at all. Should I go back and change them.

Once the bug thing is over do you think it is a good idea to upgrate to the newer version (once I learn how to do those things) or is there not much difference and would I just be better off sticking to the one I have.
