    Newbie Zenner needing help

    Hi,

I have been playing around in the templates for a few days now, and ZenCart is growing on me, it will give me everything I need to run a successfull shop.

I have been reading through miles of post, hoping to find answers to my questions, and been pouring over the wiki pages.

I know what I need to achieve, but I am stumped to where to make the changes, to get the look I need to build a store front that will make a great impression, and will last me for some time to come. As such I need to get my graphics set up right, as a lot of thought has gone into this. I know that it is possible, but as I stated above, I cannot find the correct files, to make the changes.

Here is my growing store: http://www.inekesfashions.com.au/shop/

What I need, and I am aware, I am asking a lot in one post, so I do not expect you answer all in detail, as long as I get a few shortcut idea's, and a few pointers on where to make the changes, all should be ok.

    1) My header currently shows a flash image, and this pesky "TagLine Here" thingie. I would like to change the right side of my header, to display the login box and the search box, and the "Home" tag.

    2) There is a banner (or what you call it) under my header, currently displaying "home" and some store categories. I would like to get rid of "home", and re-adjust the background of the banner, and shape and size and location on the page (ie: centered).

    3) I have decided to keep my page simple and uncluttered, so I will only be using the left side box to display my links. I have worked out how to make them display the various options, in 'manager', but though I can change the look of the individual components with a table header colour, and a background colour (with css sheet), what I would like to do, is to make them transparent, so I can place a graphic behind it to show through (say a jpg of 150 wide by 600 long), and then create a box around the individual components. Just to show my display, I have some turned on. This is important, as this graphic will join with the main page background and the header, so it looks like only one graphic makes the whole page.

    4) This brings me to the main body page, again I would like to have the background shown so the requested pages will sit on top of this. At the moment, I have a butterfly background to cover the whole screen, but I only want it to show on the edges (perhaps a lot less loud..LOL), but it serves well as a background at the moment, as it is contrasting enough to see if any changes I have made are showing.

    5) I would like to set the page width to 900 (as per top banner) and the left box 150, so to leave 750px for the body part. curently my left box and body slip outside the banner.

    6) curently a warning displays in the footer, I have not looked at the footer as yet, and hope this warning will go away, as I set the parameters for that.

As a newbie, I am on a very steep learning curve, as I am new to both css sheets and php, though I understand most of HTML.

Can someone please help me on the way?

    Many thanks,

    Goshawk

A Few answers that might get you pointed in the right direction :

    1) To change around the header look at includes/templates/YOURTEMPLATE/tpl_header.php

In there you will find the code to remove the tagline bit as well as the Header Navigation (which is what you are wanting to move to the right).

    2) This is the EzPages header - look for EZPagesTop in your css to change the coloring look in tools/EZPages to edit the link and to add/remove links.

    3) Use firefox developers toolbar to show you all of the class id's available to you on the sidebar headers. The can ALL be defined seperately using the correct classes.

    4) The main content is controlled by the wrapper - look in the css for it/them.

Hope that at least gets you started :)

    Thank you very much TinaS,

ZenCart is certainly keeping me 'amused', but I'll get the hang of it. I will study the sections you point out, and hopefully my page will look as I need it.
