Adding required drop-down box on checkout

There's no obvious way in the base Zen Cart system to do this for a whole order. You could do it on a product-by-product basis by adding "charity" as an attribute to each product, though even then your client would probably need a custom report to know how much to pay to each charity.

My point is that the function doesn't exist in the core Zen Cart code. Howver, the beauty of open source software, and Zen Cart in particular, is that you can expand its functionality.

This specific requirement, if done properly, would have a number of different components, but would nevertheless would be fairly easy overall.

There is a very good description of how to add a text field to the shipping page in Zen Cart 1.3.0.2 in this thread. However, line numbers will be different in version 1.3.5 and if you wanted to add a different type of field or add it to a different page, then you would have to adapt the approach.

In case it helps, I rate it least difficult to add a field to the shipping page and most difficult to add one to the confirmation page. Adding one to the payment page falls in the middle. However, whichever page you add your field to, the change will require a fairly high degree of technical and Zen Cart knowledge. It's not a change for the faint-hearted.

I have opted to use the gift certificate feature, think it will work OK....I have text explaining it does NOT reduce amount owed for items ordered.....
