Duplicate Folders/Files

I'm trying to figure out how templates work for Zen-Cart and have a few questions.

I see that some templates have repeats of files, ex:
\includes\languages\templatename\english.php

Why would you want to have this file here instead of using the default one located:
\includes\languages\english.php

This goes for meta_tags.php and other files as well.


Also, how do I get rid of the "Search" box at the top of the defaul template?

The template override system is very cool. When you use a certain template, all the available and relevant files are called into play. So, when you're customizing, you want to keep those files to be called upon with your current template system. It's all about not hacking core files. If you change something in your english.php file, you have it called upon with your designated template. If any upgrades make changes to the file, you will have your backup and use WinMerge to see what was changed without having a big surprise.

To knock the search out of the header location, go to Admin-Tools-Layout Boxes and scroll down to 'sideboxes/search_header.php' , simply switch it off.
