Can aliases (shortcuts) be used in Zen Cart?

Can aliases (shortcuts) be used in Zen Cart?
I'm looking to put my downloadable products onto another hard drive, but if I place and alias of the folder inside the download folder, it doesn't 'point' to it. Any suggestions?

Zen Cart uses symlinks to furnish downloadable files to customers.

In terms of allowing to access symlinks for its normal processing, I don't see why it would be a problem as long as the webserver user is allowed access by the filesystem permissions to follow the symlink to get the files.

Zen Cart simply looks at it as a file. If the symlink allows it to be delivered by the FS, then it should be fine. If that's not happening, it could be a server/FS permissions problem that your host may be able to help you with.
