I want to start using Zen cart, but I was wondering when the next latest release will be , just read a DrBytes note from the roadmap, when is the newer one coming out?

The Zen Cart development team don't publish dates for releases, and rightly so, as it allows them to concentrate on getting the release right, rather than rushing to make a deadline and compromising on the quality. So I'm afraid we have to just wait and accept releases when they arrive (which is a darned sight more frequently than certain other carts anyway).

As you're planning to start using Zen Cart, I'd recommend that you just jump straight in. There does seem to be a release in the air, but Zen Cart uses an override system that means that, major releases excepted, you can just install the new release over the top of the old one and your customisations continue to work. So why not start learning how Zen Cart works now?
