Setting defaults for option values

Is it possible to set certain values (like price and weight) to show up by default when adding a certain option value to a product?

I need for all products to have one attribute in common. Others will have a second one added. (Order CD/Download)

I would have loved to be able to copy that Order CD attribute to all products, but I have installed Dual Pricing, which alters the relevant tables, and this will no longer work.

I seem to have a memory (in my overworking and sleep deprived brain) seeing defaults, like prefixes, set somewhere. In a table, maybe?

Can anyone help me find it? I'm OK with doing a little sql.
