Ok, I changed that around. I tested out adding a product into one of the categories but no option appears for adding the item to the shopping cart. I also can't seem to align the description next to the picture, the words hang out in the corner and then along the bottom side of the picture. What can I do?
Strange. Did you inflate the item stock amount? I can't remember what the stock setting are, but you need some item quantity for the cart activation. It should say "Sold Out" or something tho. Unless, you switched something in Admin off by accident
In regards to the template problems... there is usually a read me that may instruct extra settings in the Admin. Other than that, you might have to get support from the Contributed Template-Sophy Blue thread. I'm sure the designer would be more than happy to guide you to get it right. If you wanna share the URL, that would help too.
Hello again! Since you have been so helpful, I have a few more questions. I hope I'm not driving you crazy! :) The first one is about the shopping cart... still. Do I have to install one? I see the agora icon on the cpanel and even copied the folder into my sophyblue template folder thinking that might help. I also cannot figure out how to begin adding products to my site. I brought up the editor thing and put in a picture and description for one item, yet the page insists there are no items in that category:
http://cjuniquegifts.com/index.php?m...=index&cPath=3
And once I am able to start adding products, will the shopping cart option appear beside the item? I also see people putting featured items and "new for the month of.." items on their main pages. How do I do that too?
Ok, you can cancel at least part of that last post. I figured out how to add the product and it does list it as out of stock as you posted before. I can't believe it. I had to have gone over that page 100 times before..... let me play with it some more and see if I can get the shopping cart to appear!
Ok. I think I've got the products and shopping cart thing down. Thanks for all your previous help! I guess my only concern right now is that I will lose the work I have done if there is an update. How can I be sure this won't happen?
You're welcome.![]()
Nope, you're not driving me crazy. Thanks for letting me know how it's going, I checked out your store. Good job. Did you make it from a copy of template default? There is a new template showcase in 'Contributed Template' topic if you wanted to browse again, but you're doing good anyways.
No, you're safe now that you're using the overrides. Just make regular database back-ups, cuz you never know about server problems. Oh, you don't need that 'other' folder in your Sophyblue folder. Delete it. You all ready have the best cart installed.![]()
Yes, I did make it from a copy of the default template. How do I know I am using overrides? And how do I make a database backup?
Well, for starters you are using a seperate template folder. All you have to remember is when you absolutely have to change core files, like your english.php... make a new folder(with your current template folder name) where ever you are modifying files. Copy the original, place into your new template named folder and then go ahead and modify the file. Basically, you want all changes to be included into your current template path, but separate... if that makes sense.
A member contributed an automatic database backup module, I tried it and it worked great.
