Classic to Default After Upgrade

ZenMasters,
I have been using the Zencart for almost 2 years now with GREAT success and recently decided I should upgrade.

I am working on a migration from 1.2.x to 1.3.x. and have the core system up, database working etc. Because I was using the "Classic Template" on my old storefront I used it as my template and cusstomized the various css files.

I now see the other templates have gazillions of nifty gadgets and things the "Classic" Doesn't. Now to my query: Is there a way to incorporate the "Default" template files/capabilities into the "Classic"? template or am I facing a complete template re-install? and css edit?

Upgrading = good plan.

Classic Template is already built on the default template files but overrides a lot of them, particularly in the construction of the all important sideboxes.

The Classic templates sideboxes are built using tables and nobodies really building ######## gizmos for Zen Cart with tables anymore. The odd long-in-the-tooth conversion from 1,2 slips through, but often they're not fully compatible with 1.3 anyway.

So do you need a template reinstall? Not quite sure what that means. Basically you can take one of several free templates that are based on Classic and apply the same changes as you have already done to it to the new template. The two templates exist in parallel, so when you're done, just select the new one as your default, and Classic will fade gracefully into retirement.
