    Default log-in issues

Please help! I've searched the Wiki and the forum as extensively as I can and I can't figure out what's wrong.

I'm a relative newbie, so please explain things as if I were dumb. ;)

I'm running ZenCart on Dreamhost's OS, Linux 2.4.29-grsec+w+fhs6b+gr0501+nfs+a32+++p4+sata+c4+gr2b-v6.189

    PHP Version: 5.1.2 (Zend: 2.1.0)

    Zen Cart 1.3.0.1
    Database Patch Level: 1.3.0.1

I had Dreamhost install the SSL certificate that I purchased from GoDaddy.
Still, customers cannot log in. They can create accounts, and I see the accounts in Admin, but logins are never successful. There are never error messages, it just takes everyone back to the login page.

    My website is http://shop.greenkangaroo.com
    Secure server is https://shop.greenkangaroo.com

http://shop.greenkangaroo.com is a subdomain of my regular domain, http://www.greenkangaroo.com

If you change your configure.php files to ENABLE_SSL = 'false' ... do the processes work properly?

If so, then it is likely that your secure certificate is not installed properly.

Additionally, dreamhost's server configuration apparently requires that you set your "recreate session" setting to "false" in Admin->Configuration->Sessions. If you do this, just be sure to never advertise a URL that contains a &zenid=xxxxxxxx anywhere. Note that Zen Cart v1.3.0.2 made some changes to cope with the PHP 5 bug that creates the need for this "false" setting. An upgrade would be advised.

Unfortunately, changing that didn't work either.

I should add that the Log In has never worked, even before installation of the SSL.

    Thanks!

Not meaning to pass the buck here, but Dreamhost has some unique server configuration settings -- you might need to ask them for the solution. You're not the only one coming here from DH asking the same question...

Thanks, Dr. Byte. I'll start a customer service ticket with them. It's good to know other people have the same problem, and it's not just me. Means it's something I can hopefully easily fix! I've been working on this for over a week...

Aha, I found the answer in another Zencart Forum post. My searching the forum didn't bring up this post, but I decided to just try Google and this was the first result.

This fix corrected the problem. Thought I'd put it here for anyone else.

So you're saying that setting "recreate session" to false worked for you? .... just as I recommended earlier? How novel !

Ahhhhhh. Somehow, I completely missed the second half of that message. I only read it through my email program and not the full response on here. Didn't know it truncated the messages when it delivered it through email.
