Confused on setting up the shipping module?

Sorry to do so many posts in a 2 day period, but I'm really trying to get my store up and running. I am trying to get shipping set up. I decided to use the perweightunit module which I have turned on in admin. I have no clue what to do from here. I searched the forum for tutorials, and did not find any step by step approaches. I want to set the price for each item individually, which is why i chose that module. I also need to have 2 zones, one for US and one for the rest of the world. I understand I need to set up how much money 1 pound of weight is equal to, but I have no clue where to do this. If all you zenners out there could guide me through this, I would be very grateful.

As an update, I was able to get it working properly for US orders, but now I am trying to get it set up for international orders. I want to set it up so international orders take the weight and multiply it by 2 to get the shipping cost. Could someone point me in the right direction on the best way to accomplish this.

You would need to clone this shipping module so that you have one for the US and one for the World ...

Then, you can set zones on each to determin which module actually runs ...

Thanks for the reply. I've found articles on cloning the shipping module, so I think I'll be able to figure that out. About the zones, am I supposed to set the zones in the admin or in a certain file?

Zones are defined in the Admin ... Localization/Taxes ... Zone Definitions ...

Some zones that are huge ... you may wish for a little phpMyAdmin work to build a zone or it could take a long time to make the world ...

Somewhere I do have a zone maker for the World excluding the US ... that might be helpful ...

A search on Internation Shipping may find that one ...

A World excluding the US module is just what I'm looking for. A search using 'international shipping' doesn't help much (wonder when someone will write a bbs with a good search engine - my site has the same trouble using SMF).

I don't suppose you've got it lying about somewhere? My client is antsy, and I've spent the better part of the day researching shipping issues on the forum, LOL.

Now if I can just figure out how to set up 2 more rates, flat rates for 2-day and 3-day shipping in the US.....

That is what the zones are all about ...

Being able to use a Shipping/Payment module and control who can access or see the module based on their zone or location ...

I just put together a fast way to build this so that you would not have to add each location 1 by 1 ...
