Default Drop down box for many values

Hi all, I am new to this and, read through pages of posts first. I am having a hard time adding a certain attribute to a product. I will use actual situation an not hypotheticals to confuse myself. I sell electronics parts and I have one part that has hundreds of different values. I can either kill myself copying the same part over and over with one different value or use a drop down box for one field. They are all the same price but, have differing quantity avail. Here is what I would like...

    Name Value Price Qty. Avail.

    1 watt resistor 100K $0.79 23

The underlined is the variable i would like to assign a dropdown box for.

    I have 101K, 102K,103K

I can adjust the qty.avail on each or even skip the qty avail. if it is easier. Please help!

Thank you very much in advance.

A dropdown with 100+ choices is:

    1 hard on the customer

2 hard on the page load time

Also, at this time, there isn't a method for stock tracking when using the Attributes ...

You could create the product and then copy as duplicate and edit for the minor change which would give you stock control of the product ...

Note: if the stock tracking per choice is not important and you have a server properly setup ... then the 100+ choices on the Attributes should not slow you down by more than 1-2 seconds on the page ...

If you want, you could just make this value a text field and allow the person to type it in.
You can then validate the field using javascript. Here's an example:

You could put logic for popup help (or even quantities) in the same area
so it would all be together and you'd only have to update one place when
    adding or deleting related products.

    Good luck,

In fact, this page takes you through the whole process.

It's just another approach. Many exist in ZenWorld. :)
