Adding new central content

Hi all,
I would like to add a new central content, like featured products, in which I would like to put some news about my site.
Is it possible as it is possible to add sidebox contents?

As you provide no url...I think that what you are seeking would be in the admin > tools > define pages editor > define_main_page.php. Add your news there.

How hard is it to add images to the center section like this template has : http://osc.template-help.com/zencart_10092/index.php.

If you have enabled the html area editor there is a image add button and you enter the path to the image & image name. It is also WYSIWYG so that you will be able to see the image in the admin editor.
