Is it the case that we should not longer create queries that are built up from a _POST, but
rather, build a query that uses a host variable and then uses bindVars to associate the host variable with the _POST value? I'm just trying to understand the change to ot_coupon.ph better.

The use of bindVars makes sanitizing data simpler and more reliable.
There are a number of examples in the code of how this is used.
Over time all queries will be converted to this format..
