Ah, the joys of the English language and its usage! Thank goodness I never called myself a web "developer", otherwise I'd be having a serious falling out with my client this morning!!

But what should he call me as I am indeed "developing" his website from the basic ZC? Perhaps I should be a "zenhancer"

But thanks for the solution - I'm surprised that if it really is that simple that it isn't part of the core code.

The "Surely this is easy?" combined with "so I can pass it on to my developer" inspired me, but English in not my native language so maybe it is just me. :-)

I'm surprised that if it really is that simple that it isn't part of the core code.
Really? Many simple solutions are not part of the Zen Cart core code

But seriously: I am sure it really removes tax form the products while shopping, but I only tested it briefly so I am not 100% that there will be no glitches. And maybe just setting tax to 0 is not enough??

(I do not really have a purpose for it myself right now, so it's somewhere on the bottom of my todo list to test it extensively)

    Please do!

Although I do not need it atm, I *am* very curious if it is of any practical use.

Oops, while writing this I think I already found an issue. What i was after was taxfree shopping, but that is not the same as only showing prices excluding tax. Hmm..... the tax on the invoices will be 0 too (or at least that is what my intention was, never really tested that part).

So, i.s.o hacking includes\functions\functions_taxes.php, I think you would need to hack classes/currencies.php in this case.

The practical use is that, certainly in the UK, it is usual for the public to want to know the final price, and the "trades" want to see the pre-tax price.
