    Default Template

If I purchased a template and used my FTP program to upload that template to ZC would it work? The template I would like to purchase uses HTML and Flash. Thanks.

    1saba,

Unless it is specificaly for ZenCart then no it will not work.

You could posibly take that same style and adapt a ZenCart template to closely match it but it might not look exactly the same.

What template are you thinking of purchasing?

Only if it's a template designed specifically for Zen Cart. there are many out there that claim to be but aren't so make absolutely sure what you're buying.

Thank you so much. the website is am looking at is wdeluxe.com. The templates I like are not zen cart templates. What if I took the code and used that and then customize it, would that work?

Those are template monster templates. The graphics would have to be completely re-cut to work properly with the Zen Cart override system, but it is possible.

The code is not normally what one wants from a template that they like, as you really do not see the code. What you see is the graphics and the general style. If you understand this then one can port most any style to ZenCart, watching for copyright issues, but if you purchase it there should be no problem.

Porting can be simple to very complex depending on the design/layout.

As the tempales you are talking about are copywrited it would be illegal to actually copy the code.

Also the code from those sites are html and not meant to be used in a site that uses php so heavily.

Now what you could do is find one you like and then try to make you zencart very similar to it by changing the css. This sounds like a big hard job but really is not that difficult. If you do not have any experience in generating graphics their are many places you can get the graphics you need, some are free some cost money.

Is there a specific template that you are thinking of?

Thanks for the advice. I do not have a specific template in mind. There are several on the site that I liked. I decided to ask this question before going in-depth searching for the perfect template.

I am looking for an easy way in getting this website up and running. Back to the drawing board. Thanks you guys so much for your help and advice.

Have you checked the downloads section of this site. There are a number of very nice templates done by other members.

    http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...index&cPath=40

You can check out many of them at

    http://(sorry, site offline)/

IF you are like the looks of any of these you can easily change the colors to suit yourself
