    Default timing out

Customers are timing out quicker than I want. I know there's a place to change the setting for admins...but what about for customers?

Time outs can happen due to a number of factors. What are your time-out settings in the PHP.INI file?

Also, when and where do they time out? Does this happen to logged in customers or to browsers. Do they time out when searching for items or displaying products?

Please provide as much as possible data to allow others to assist you.

By default ... servers are setup with session time of 24 minutes ...

The Admin in Zen Cart was re-written to allow for longer time limits due to that being a more secure area and that store owners were generally busy people and had to walk away from their computers too often ...

Extending the time on a store can be done ... but there are many considerations to the security and safety of extending that time limit ...

the timing out occurs when it's been sitting for awhile. This happens in both Firefox and MSIE. It's unlikely my customers will let it sit there for awhile in the middle of shopping, but I prefer it not to log out until the browser is closed or log out is clicked.
