    Default Yet another attributes thread!

I'm lost within the strange world of attributes.
I have a dog coat that come in 3 colours & 22 sizes. So far I've got as far as getting the drop down boxes for colour choice & size choice onto the listing, here: http://pets-express.co.uk/cart/index...products_id=32 .
The sizes vary in price from £10.55 to £29.90, but I don't have a clue how to associate the price with the size.
Then there is the weight. They vary from 0.25kg to 1.25kg in a steadily rising scale, but again I don't know how to associate the weight with the different sizes,
I don't have a price or a weight on my listing. Should I have, and if so, which price & weight?

    Hope someone can help me.
    Thanks in advance.

Several ways to do this ...

Give the Product a base Price such as: 10.00

Then if 12" is $10 no change on price

If 18" is $12 then on the Attribute set the:

    Price Prefix to: +
    Price to 2.00

    This will show as:

    12"
    13"
    14"
    15"
    16"
    17"
    18" +$2.00
    19"
    etc.

Note: there is also a Weight prefix and Weight ...

Either put the bulk weight to the Product or set all weight to the Attribute ...

Thanks. This is all very new to me. Please excuse my ignorance.
Where do I enter the base price?

You have in the Admin ...

    Catalog ... Categories/Products ...

You edit the Product and put in the:
    Product Price
    Product Weight
Optional - Price by Attribute YES

On the Attributes in the Catalog ... Attributes Controller ...

    Find the Product ...

Add/Edit the Attribute for the Size you want ...

    Price Prefix
    Price
    Weight Prefix
    Weight

You can either put everything about on the Attribute ...

This is called Price by Attribute and set that in the Product itself ... and on the Attribute put the full Price vs an incremental price (leave the prefix blank) ...

And you can put the full weight on the Attribute or that can be a peice for the Product Weight and the difference on the individual size ...

Thanks so much for your help. I'll try it tomorrow as it's very late here & my brain needs a rest. I'll let you know how I get on.

Thanks again for your help. Both the prices & weight seem to be working OK now. The attributes system seems unintuitive to newbies like me to start with, but once it's explained properly by someone who knows what they are doing it's actually not that difficult, if rather boring to do.
I seem to be getting all the common problems - I'll be back in a day or so asking about the white gap below the header in IE! But time to list some more items before asking you experts to help me out again!
    Thanks again, Linda.
