Default Oops, installed a 1.2.7 Template on a 1.3.5 install

    Hi,

Luckily it's a clean install of 1.3.5 that I've installed the template (which is designed for 1.2.7) onto. At the top of the admin control panel it now says:

"Your Your database appears to need patching to a higher level. See Tools->Server Information to review patch levels."

and also "WARNING: The Admin Activity Log table has records over 2 months old and should be cleaned ... 12-05-2005"

How should I comply with these messages? Also, it's taken the website down (as you can see this is a practice install anyway):

    http://www.dvdextras.co.uk/demo/index.php?main_page=

That will likely be resolved once the database is patched?

Thanks very much for your assistance, if you ever need help with Linux I'm on hand over at the Ubuntu Forums :).

    You should restore your backups.

I am not familiar with the error messages...

If you can access the admin, and the template is one that is nice and does not alter the core files, you can change the template being used back to classic and all should be good.

The message about the Admin Activity Log table should have a reset button that you can use and you will be taken to another screen where you can again select reset. This clears this log of the older transactions.

Templates: check the download area here for free starting templates, normally not fully polished, but many excellent base starting points. Many can be viewed here: Template Viewer

    And welcome to Zen Cart

    Hi,

I could revert to an earlier backup, would that not remove the template though? Or perhaps we need to revert to an earlier state and then update the template to comply with 1.3.5 in order to install it correctly?

    Thank you again

P.S: As I say, we're just trying out Zen Cart with this install so it doesn't matter if it gets broke, much like with Linux fixing stuff is how you find out how it works anyhow.

Yes, you need to remove this template.

1.2.7 and earlier ZenCarts were table based and many templates are more than just css alterations. As a result, there are files that define table items that are not compatible with the 1.3.x series.

Most any style/look can be replicated in a minimum table Zen Cart 1.3.x using css methods and other approaches.

    Hi,

Thanks for the info, the template I have is a sample from TemplateMonster.com anyway so we only intended to use it as an example to work from; as it's design is outdated we'll have to find a new starting point, this forum looks like a good place.

    Cheers,

You can search here for TemplateMonster for other posts about this.

There is a reason that TemplateMonster makes this free as it is no longer of value.
