I have searched these forums, and I know this question has been asked before...
I run a store where downloads are offered for sale. I've noticed it's a common problem that files over 10MB won't download, and I contacted my web server for assistance.
I'm hoping someone can make sense of their reply:
I welcome the opportunity to assist you with your concerns regarding
downloading a 50 MB file through ZenCart.
Zoe, ZenCart is a third party software that are welcome to install and
use in your account. At this time Yahoo! Web Hosting is unable to
provide support for third party scripts and software. The issue you are
requesting help with may be addressed by the author(s) of the software
by accessing their website on the Web. It may be possible to find help
with your issue by addressing the help forums at the website of the
party who is responsible for the creation of the script or software you
are attempting to use with Yahoo! Web Hosting. You may also find help
with this issue by searching the web using keywords which are related
to
your specific issue.
However, I will like to bring to your notice that there is a time limit
of 90 seconds set on the server for a PHP script to run. You will need
to contact the ZenCart support team to know how do they offer the file
downlaod - (a) as a direct link or (b) is processed through a PHP
script. Please note that if the download is being offered by processing
through a PHP script then the 90 seconds time limit will come into
play.
You can contact ZenCart support to know how to offer downloads as a
direct link. There should be no issues with the direct links."
I'm completely new to this, so this is not making much sense to me. I would so appreciate any light you can shed on the subject. I know from being a customer that this doesn't seem to be a problem with other stores offering the same type of product.
Thanks in advance :)
