Template not showing in Template Selection

I just tried uploading the folders for a custom template but when I go to the admin Template Selection the custom template doesn't show up for me to update, it just shows the default templates. I went over the How do I create a new custom template FAQ and I did everything it said to do. So I'm having trouble figuring out why the template isn't showing up in the Template Selection?

Did you remember to include a template_info.php(template information file) into your new template folder ?

What version are you using?
Is your template compatible with that version?

The folder should be uploaded to:
includes/templates/ --------- is it there? are ALL the folders and files there? At least you need a css folder and an images folder, plus you need the template info file.

a) there's no indication that it was resolved and

There is nothing to "resolve" really. The procedure for creating/installing a new template are logically explained in the Tutorials/FAQ:-

If this relatively simple procedure is followed, then your new tempalte will be featured and can then be developed according to the principles of the over-ride system.

The template is easy enough to make i.e copy classic, rename folder and then amend template_info.php

but nothing shows. in [ tools -> template selection. Click the Edit button, then choose CUSTOM from the dropdown menu ]

I wondered if there could be a database setting that stops alternative templates being used?

For example, if if edit the classic/template_info.php as follows

none of changes show when I check the tools - template etc.

Are you saving the changed file to your custom folder? Something like includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/template_info.php (where YOUR_TEMPLATE is the name of your custom template).

Yes I created a new custom folder and amended the template_info.php
and i copied the classic folder and renamed it, changing its template_info.php

so each new custom folder in the includes/templates/custom folder has it's own template_info.php

I just don't seem to get them recognised,

plus there's the fact that amending info in the classic/template_info.php doesn't get picked up

so I think the zen cart just isn't checking the template folder and gets its info somewhere else

What I mean is the template_info.php files are not being accessed as clearly files in the classic folder are being accessed (css etc)
