Big headache

Hi first of all,

I'm trying my hardest to get my head around php & zen-cart, BUT the last piece of the puzzle eludes me.

I'm trying to open an online record/cd shop and the one thing that I really need, I can't figure how to do. I've searched the www including this forum (especially this forum) to no avail. I've also seen a site that uses zen, cre or osc that has exactly what I'm looking for so I know it can be done but I'm a bit of a technophobe and can't figure it out. All my hard earned lolly has gone into stock now too so can't afford much in the line of a custom coder.

but what I want is to be able to include a kind of table which would include a couple of other things. the most important is a listen button so customers can listen to a sample of the song they're looking at (I sorted this for the single product page but doesn't show here, check out craig david - fill me in). The other thing is that I'd like to include the year of release as I'm going to sell mostly used stuff.

Kind of formatted like this, stick with me I'm trying to explain as best I can here:

IMAGE / Product name / year /maybe description here / LISTEN / Price / Add to cart

Here's hoping someone can explain how I can do this and sorry for kinda goin on a bit there but I'm just trying to explain best I can.

I had a hard time following your post...but product layout is mostly adjustable.

You need to look at the music product type as a preview function is built in.

Thanks for the replies, I already went down that road though and It's a bit long winded and didn't display how I wanted. Maybe I'll look at customising it a bit

Another suggestion, if possible please try to create a descriptive title for the topic. Of which clearly state about your issue.

And this also will help for searching which use by other peoples who also want to find the related answers.

Yeah fair point, apologies for that I should have thought.

I'm gonna look at the media manager again, see what I can do with it so thanks folks.

I figured out how to get the year into the listing at least, I decided that because I,m selling vinyl & cd I didn't need any model numbers so I used developers tool kit to find all references to model & product model and then went and changed them all to year and products year then set it to display in product info, which is where I found how to arrange which column to display each item.

Had me a bit puzzled at first, didn't know what I'd done wrong but after about 3 seconds of deep thought it sank in.

Here's a spiffy little JavaScript button that will play an mp3 stored on your server for the samples.

It should be possible to setup a column that holds the address of the mp3. It looks like this script seeks out mp3 links in the HTML and adds the play button automatically.
